April's Open Letter to Women

A Personal Invitation Extended To All Women
My name is April Williams. Many of you know me and some of you do not. I have a burning desire to share with you my personal weight loss and fitness story. A story of hope and new found confidence and courage! Through exercise and fitness I have come to believe in myself!

I know the demands of a full-time job, juggling children, a household, and career! I've been there. I'm also familiar with the stress of being a stay at home mom. You've got babies, carpools, lessons, meals, clubs, church activities, family finances, committees and household chores to juggle. I've been there too! Whew!!! Where does exercise and fitness fit in?

April - before

For the past 6 years I have dealt with all that stress, and then some, by eating. (I was a big time stress eater!) Add to that, little to no exercise and you get a pretty steady gain weight. With every pound gained, I steadily lost more self-respect and confidence. I was depressed, frustrated and beaten down by too many attempts (and failures) to lose weight and get in shape. At one point, I even completed an Olympic distance Triathlon and didn't lose a pound (because I ate too damn much!) At the other end of the spectrum, I tried an extremely low-carb diet and couldn't exercise because I didn't have enough energy to do so. I nearly fainted one day in the grocery store (of all places) and had to put an end to that!

Weight, bulges, food and bathing suit season were big problems!!

So what happened? I made a commitment. I turned myself around. I didn't want to get any bigger. So, I joined Weight Watchers and committed to a consistent exercise program. (I've lost almost 40 lbs - I went from a size 14 to a size 4 - no kidding!!!) With every pound lost, I shed a layer of self-doubt, insecurity, depression, envy, jealousy, and shame. With regular exercise, both cardio and weight training, I have completely reshaped my body. (Most of my exercise is done at 5:30 am at the YMCA). I really believed I was doomed to have a fat back, stomach rolls and nasty thighs for life. I look and feel better now than I did when I got married 17 years ago!!!

Bottom line, if I can do it—anyone can and that means YOU!!!

There's no doubt in my mind that becoming physically fit will change ALL areas of your life. You'll have more energy & focus—it's amazing!

April - after

Every area of my life has improved. I've been liberated and I want you to be free too!

I am very familiar with your excuses not to exercise. I owned them and I believed them! They covered just about everything and then some….. too busy, too tired, I'm not a morning person, I'm too old, I must have a thyroid problem, I need to be spending the time with my family, it won't do any good, I have a slow metabolism, I'll just learn to accept and love my overweight/out of shape body (denial), it's genetic, and my personal favorite—I'll start fresh on Monday morning…..Sound familiar?

So, how can I help you?

My passion to share with others the hope and freedom I experienced by loosing weight and getting fit inspired me to create WorkOutWarriors (WoW! Boot Camp) "A Sisterhood of Courage".

Don't let the words work out, warrior or Boot Camp scare you!!! Tell that negative gremlin in your head to BE QUIET! (I'm confident you'll proudly and courageously own these words when you're finished with the program!) It's for women of ALL fitness levels. And that includes you!

I hope to see you there!!
